Precalculus as a Flipped Class
Jonathan D. Dunbar and Lindsey R. Bosko-Dunbar
Department of Mathematics, Spring Hill College
Over the 2013-2014 academic year, we taught 4 sections of precalculus using a “flipped” style with videos. We created and then recorded annotated slides of our lectures and asked students to watch these video recordings before each class. Class time was then reserved for active learning. We will detail our daily classroom agenda, requirements for the students, and the tools we used to create the videos. We will also discuss any adjustments made from fall to spring semesters and share any results, where possible, related to the effectiveness of using this method.
