Academic Skill Building and General Education: Why do they NEED to take that course?

This panel will discuss the function of the Gen Ed requirement at USA (and other such institutions).  In a higher education landscape that is increasingly focused on whether college graduates have attained adequate critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills, this panel discussion will focus on where the building of these skills is and should be in the curriculum.  The discussion will focus on such issues as General Education Skills, Integration of General Education Content, Relevance of General Education Content, Recruiting through General Education, Faculty Development and Teaching in General Education, and others.
