Breaking the Ice: Using Technological Icebreakers In Your Classroom
Kenley Obas, ASU Online, Alabama State University
Icebreakers are "discussion questions or activities used to help participants relax and ease into a group meeting or learning situation" (Dover, 2004). Coupled with technology, icebreakers can provide an opportunity to ease students and broaden their horizons. In this presentation we will discuss and demonstrate various technological focused icebreakers. From using Pinterest Boards to creating word clouds, the opportunities to infuse technology are endless for any discipline. We will also discuss goals and learning outcomes, that can be linked to a simple Icebreaker. Finally we will demonstrate how to plan and develop your Icebreaker activity.
